Laura McMillan

History and experience

Laura has over 15 years experience as a Learning and Development professional and is a highly skilled trainer, facilitator and coach. Laura holds a PGCE, specialising in adult learning and is also a qualified performance coach.

Prior to working as a consultant, Laura held various management positions. At the disability charity Scope, as L&D Manager, she led a team of twelve to deliver innovative learning solutions across the organisation. Another senior role involved successfully managing a multi-million pound project as part of a corporate responsibility initiative.

Laura now works across sectors and is equally comfortable working for corporate clients as those in the voluntary and not-for-profit sector.

Clients

Laura enjoys working across a wide variety of settings. She regularly undertakes work for local authorities, mostly in schools. This work consists of leadership training for senior leadership teams and INSET training for teaching and non-teaching staff.

Laura has also delivered training at: The Southbank Centre, SOAS, The Port of London Authority, Eastend Homes, Archbishops Council, Combat Stress University Partnership Programme, Peabody, Northern Trust Bank and DCMS.

Laura is a skilled facilitator and has lots of experience facilitating meetings and away days so that participants have a motivating experience and get the best outcome from the precious time they have together.

Laura genuinely enjoys helping organisations and individuals achieve their potential. Delegates describe Laura’s style as being relaxed and fun whilst being firmly focussed on learning outcomes. Delegates leave Laura’s workshops feeling motivated to apply their learning back in the workplace and make a positive, lasting impact on performance.

Laura is a specialist in equality and diversity issues and has developed a very popular half day and full day diversity workshop which she regularly delivers on behalf of the Centre.

In partnership with the Centre, Laura has also designed and delivered some 90 minute Bite-size Workshops which are an extremely effective way of delivering dynamic training that focuses on a single topic. Examples of Bite-size sessions include: Meet those deadlines, Getting the best out of meetings, Effective 1 to 1s, Handling difficult conversations and Top tips for excellent customer service.
