Following this Alvin worked for Research in Motion (Blackberry) and then for Endsleigh Insurance in their Business Development team where he developed altruistic programmes to support the Higher Education sector in order strengthen Endsleigh’s position as the lead insurer in the market.
Alvin has a Green Belt in Lean Sigma Six and has worked part-time for Queen Mary University within their Strategic Change Unit as a Process Improvement Manager. Alvin is committed to developing people, having mentored many people in the Students’ Union sector, and is now coaching people in the Higher Education sector. Alvin has delivered training, focus groups and coaching in all his previous roles. Amongst this, strengths coaching, humour and streamlining processes have been a common thread across all sectors.
For the last three years Alvin has volunteered to support the National Union of Students with their annual training programme of the newly elected officers. He delivers workshops on key topics such as inclusive leadership, systematic oppression, effective relationship building, creating impactful campaigns and influence, persuasion and negotiation.
Alvin’s approach is light hearted and relaxed; believing that people learn more when they are comfortable, able to participate in discussion, and allowed to let their personalities shine through. Alvin likes to make his workshops engaging and practical leaving people with steps or ideas to take away with them to implement or discuss.
Alvin delivers our entry level management courses such as Moving into Management, Team Leader skills and Supervision skills, using his own experience as a Senior Manager in an organisation where he manages and supports a large team of young managers. Alvin also delivers our Equality Diversity and inclusion course.
