The 22-year-old signed up as a learner through Itec when she was 17 and then found an apprenticeship before securing a full-time job. Now she helps young people to get on the career ladder.
KC continued: “I always had odd jobs growing up and then after school, I went to college. I chose a childcare course because all my life I wanted to work with nursery or young kids, I thought I can’t work with teenagers because I felt like I was a horrible teenager!”
After four months at college, KC knew it wasn’t right for her. Luckily, her friend was on a course with Itec at the time and recommended they might be able to help.
“My friend was telling me she was on work placement and earning a weekly wage, it sounded like something I wanted to try out and it seemed like a good alternative to college,” she said.
