Carter Davies joined the Itec Jobs Growth Wales+ programme to adapt to the working world while managing his mental health challenges. He was determined to get his life back on track and confront the obstacles he faced. Seeking a positive change, Carter was eager to explore career options and establish a new routine.

Initially, Carter felt nervous, but with the support of Youth Tutor Steven Ford and mental health counsellor Natalia Bebenek, he quickly formed positive relationships with peers and staff at Itec. As his confidence grew, Carter became actively involved in fundraising opportunities, such as Itec’s Christmas project, which focused on helping those in need during the festive season through collecting items and raising money. Through these activities, Carter developed excellent communication skills, engaging with members of the public and gaining the inspiration to enter the workforce.

With the skills he had built, Carter began a placement at The Entertainer toy shop and started his customer service qualification. Since joining the programme, he has established a productive routine and feels motivated. Carter is now able to provide high-quality customer service and has a bright future ahead. His transformative journey highlights the effectiveness of the Itec Jobs Growth Wales+ programme in supporting individuals facing challenges and helping them get their lives back on track. The programme offers bespoke support to young individuals on their journey toward personal and professional growth.
