Giving Back to the Community: Itec Skills’ Food Donation Drive
Written by Jane John, Performance Manager at Itec Skills
At Itec Skills, we believe that giving back to the community is just as important as helping people succeed through our training programmes. As an Employee-Owned business, we put people at the heart of everything we do—whether that’s preparing individuals for employment or supporting those in need in our local communities.
This November, the team at Itec Skills is coming together to launch an exciting initiative: a food donation drive to support those in need. Staff will be collecting non-perishable food items throughout the month to help stock the shelves of local food banks in their areas and aid to individuals and families who are struggling. It’s our way of making a positive difference and showing our commitment to giving back. I am pleased to announce that Itec’s head Office will be donating to The Trussell Trust Food Bank.
Why It’s Important
As a training provider that helps people transition into meaningful employment, we recognise that not everyone has the same resources or opportunities. By supporting this food bank project, we aim to contribute to the well-being of those who may be facing tough times—especially during the winter months when financial pressures can rise. This is a small step, but one that aligns with our core values of community and compassion.
What We’re Collecting
We encourage our staff and anyone who wishes to join us in making a donation. Below is a list of essential items that the food bank needs:
- Canned vegetables
- Canned fruits
- Soup (canned or dried)
- Pasta and rice
- Breakfast cereals
- Canned beans and pulses
- Pasta sauces
- Tinned meat and fish
- Biscuits and snacks
- Baby food and formula
- Toiletries (e.g., toothpaste, soap, sanitary products)
Building a Better Future Together
At Itec Skills, we are constantly thinking about how we can engage with the wider community beyond the work we do to help people into employment. This food donation project is just the beginning of many initiatives we hope to implement in the future, with the goal of making a real difference in people’s lives.
Giving back isn’t just about the donations themselves—it’s about fostering a sense of collective responsibility and compassion. Together, as a team and a business, we can help provide a little more comfort to those who need it most.
